MY LEARNING IN PURPOSIVE COMMUNICATION

             PURPOSIVE COMMUNICATION
Purposive Communication is one of the subject in college wherein it is use for the students to improve in all skills of communicating such as Verbal Communication and Non-Verbal Communication. This subject help us to enhance our skill towards English language, and it is very helpful for us as a student to improve our communication skill by communicating to the customers, patients and other people sorround us.

In Communication I learned that it is a simply act of transferring information from one place, person or groups to another. In every communication involve one sender, a message and a recipient. Communication have eight component first the Source, wherein the sender carefully crafts the message, second the Message wherein message is the reason behind in any interaction, it is also the meaning shared between the sender and receiver. Third is Channel wherein the message was conveyed, fourth is the Receiver wherein the receiver is the person who receives the transmitted message. Fifth is the Feedback wherein feedback is the essential to confirm recepient understanding, feedback may be written spoken or acted out, sixth is Environment wherein the place, the feeling, the mood, the mindset and the condition of both sender and receiver in short the venue or the location of communication. Seventh the context that involves the expectation of the sender and the receiver and last is Interference that also known as the Barrier or the Block that prevent effective communication to take place. In effective communication we should follow the Nine principles to become an effective communicators;first Clarity, which is about the message or information must be clear, second Concreatness wherein the message must be accurate, third Courtesy that one must communicate in a friendly and polite manner. Fourth Correctness wherein the message to be communicated must be specific and not vogue, fifth consideration that the message must be geared toward audience, sixth the Creativity wherein you should have an ability to craft interesting message in terms of sentence structure and word choice. Seventh is the Conciseness that the message must be direct to the point and all unnecessary words must be eliminated, eight is Cultural Sensitivity wherein it involves empowering diverse cultures, lifestyle, races and the pursuit for gender equality and Nineth is Captivating wherein the message must be interesting to command more attentions. And also in communication we should have an Ethical consideration such as Respect your audience, Consider the result of communication, value truth, use information correctly and Do not falsify information

In lesson 2, I learned about Communication and Globalization where globalization is the communication and assimilation among individuals, ethnicities, races, institutions, government of various nations supported by technology and compelled by international trade. Communication in globalization have a Cultural Barriers to effective communication in a global environment; the cultural relativism, lack of knowledge of other's culture, Discrimination and harassment and last is languages differences. According to Krizan (2014) to have an effective global communication we should have a effective strategies; first we should review communication principles, analyze the message receiver, be open about cultures and apply what is learned and last we should consider the language needs.

In lesson 3 which is Local and Global Communication in Multicultural Settings, I learned about the Intercultural communication that it refers to interaction with people from diverse cultures, and According to Jandt (1998) there are three forms of Intercultural communication; the interracial communication which  about communicating with people from different races, the International communication that communicating between representatives from different nations/countries and last the Intercultural communication which is interacting with member of the same racial or ethnic group or co-culture. In communicating to other countries that have a different culture we should follow the Three improving intercultural communication competence, first we should recognize the validity and differences od communication style among people, second mean to eliminate personal biases and prejudices, and third strive to aquire communication skills necessary in multicultural world.

In lesson 4, I learned about the varieties and registers of spoken and written language, wherein language register is a variety of language that used in a particular social setting. Language register have give types which is the Frozen register, Consultative register, Casual register and Intimate register. Aside from those language and types of register I learned also the 4 characteristics of spoken language by Halliday (1989), which is about the variation in speed, loudness or softness, gestures and intonation, and also there is a characteristica of written language such as as the Density of content, Grammar, and Punctuation.

In lesson 5, which is about Evaluating messages and/or image, different types of text reflecting different culture. I learned about message which about the important of idea that someone is trying in a book, movies, speech and et. In order for us to have an effective message we should follow the 4 main qualities of effective messages; first w need to have simplicity, specificity, structure and stickiness, and also in evaluating image we should follow the three steps first, Identifying source, interpret contextual information and understand implications. And also I've learned about the different kind of text by Syed Hunbbell Meer, wherein there is Narrative, Persuasive, Expository and Descriptive.

In Chapter 2, lesson 1 which is about the Communication and strategies using tools of technology. I learned about how to prepared or makes multimedia presentation, wherein there is some steps that we should follow first; know the purpose of the presentation, second know the audience, third gather information, fourth use variety if resources, fifth do not forget to cite sources, sixth organize the information, seventh check technical issues and last is be creative in making multimedia presentation. In lesson 3, I learned about how to make blog and according to Richardson (2006) the use of blogs has been engaging and effective way to promote writing skills of primary students like us and I learned also that in making blog we/you should remember that we should be short and direct, ask a thought-provoking questions, ask a multiple choice questions, share a shocking fact or statistic, share something personal without a compelling place of information, refute conventional wisdom, lead with a success story, start with a readers questions and share quote.

Communication skill both written and verbal are good for us as a student because it will help us to boost our self-confidence in public speaking and help us to exercise our mind in terms problem solving. And as a future educator communication is important to our career because it help us to produce effective results in return brings desired success in our professional career.
